Analytik Jena Donates Spectrophotometer to PHORMS School in Frankfurt

Jena, December 12, 2024 – Analytik Jena has delighted the private school PHORMS in Frankfurt with a helpful donation in goods: The UV/Vis analysis classic SPECORD PLUS enables students in the STEM department to experience scientific contexts in a practical environment and to expand their practical skills in handling scientific analysis equipment.

The SPECORD Plus is a classic device from Analytik Jena in the field of UV/Vis technology. The dual-beam spectrophotometer allows reliable analysis of liquid, solid, and gaseous samples. UV/Vis spectroscopy is based on observing the behavior of radiation when it hits matter and is thereby attenuated. In addition to UV radiation and the visible range of radiation (Vis), the SPECORD PLUS series extends coverage into the near-infrared range (NIR) with the help of its extensive accessories. This results in a wide range of applications – from routine analysis to specific tasks in the fields of chemistry, pharmaceuticals, medicine, food safety, environmental analysis, life sciences, and much more.

With the SPECORD PLUS, students will be able to experience and better understand complex and abstract concepts in chemistry. Additionally, using a device from laboratory practice will further develop their practical skills in handling scientific analysis equipment. The SPECORD PLUS also enriches extracurricular projects at the PHORMS Science Center, which promote experimental access to science.

The donation of the SPECORD 200 PLUS spectrophotometer was made possible by Oliver Büttel, Senior Expert Products & Applications at Analytik Jena. As an active member of the PHORMS community, he and PHORMS teacher Tomi Herceg initiated the donation of an older but fully functional device. Analytik Jena is pleased to enrich the studies of the students with this donation and to contribute to making science more tangible.
