Determination of Trace Elements in Blood Serum and Plasma Using ICP-MS Applying Ready-to-Use IVD Kits Clinical Diagnostics |  IVD Kits |  Trace Element Analysis in Serum and Plasma

Content of the AppNote

The determination of trace elements in human samples by ICP-MS in medical laboratories is subject to the guidelines of the EU regulation (EU) 2017/746 on in vitro diagnostic medical devices, IVDR. While no standardized methods dedicated to ICP-MS exist for this application, the IVDR requires laboratories to use kits certified for the respective analysis in accordance with IVDR wherever possible.

This application note describes the use of the first "ClinMass® ICP-MS, ICP-MS/MS Complete Kit", which carries CE and IVDR-ready labels, using the PlasmaQuant MS ICP-MS from Analytik Jena. The IVD kit contains all solutions and calibrators needed to analyze 28 trace elements in serum and plasma using ICP-MS.

Learn about:

  • the applicability of the kit which is not limited to instruments with MS/MS technology.

  • the easy preparation; only the reconstitution of the calibrators and the dilution of samples and calibrators with the diluent is necessary.

  • the patented integrated collision reaction cell of the PlasmaQuant MS which enables effective interference management.

  • the precise determination of even the lowest element concentrations thanks to maximum sensitivity through patented 3D focusing of the ion beam.
