TOC/TNb analysis for particle-rich samples and special applications

Thanks to the use of direct injection technology, the compact and robust devices of the multi N/C 2300 series are ideal for particle-rich samples. Their modular design makes them customizable for solids as well as for the simultaneous measurement of nitrogen. The septum-free direct injection prevents sample carryover when handling particle-rich liquid samples. Injections from the microliter syringe make it possible to dose extremely small sample volumes, for example for scientific applications. When determining total protein content via total nitrogen analysis in vaccines, these devices offer impressively short measurement times, no carryover and a broad working range.

Sophisticated technologies for particle-rich samples and small sample quantities

Difficult matrices and demanding applications need a robust device. The septum-free direct injection from the microliter syringe of the multi N/C 2300 series uses efficient rinsing technology to effectively prevent blockages of the dosing path and any sample carryover even for particle-rich or emulsion-like samples.

The wide-range focus radiation NDIR detector forms the basis of this measuring technology. A broad measurement range of 0 to 30,000 mg/L TOC means that samples can be measured directly without any need for sample dilution. The Easy Cal function enables automatic calibration with long-term stability and reliable standard recovery. The VITA flow management system delivers these benefits by effectively compensating for gas flow fluctuations.

For automatic sample introduction, the autosampler AS 60 offers automatic acidification and purging, as well as magnetic stirring to homogenize liquid samples. A 112 position sample rack for 2 ml HPLC vials is optionally available.

TC and TOC in homogeneous solid samples can be measured with the double furnace module by means of catalytic oxidation at temperatures up to 950 °C in the internal furnace of the multi N/C 2300. In addition, the HT 1300 presents a solids module for catalyst-free combustion of solid samples at up to 1800 °C (with additives) in a ceramic combustion tube. Horizontal sample introduction via ceramic boats enables the direct analysis of solid samples weighing up to 3 g without needing to wrap them into foil. This solids module is part of the multi N/C 2300 duo system including automation, or can be retrofitted with manual or automatic sample introduction at any time.

To measure nitrogen, a reliable electrochemical detector (ChD) can optionally be integrated in the device. Alternatively, a chemiluminescence detector (CLD) can be added as a separate detector module - either during initial analyzer configuration or later.

The TOC/TNb analyzer with integrated automated solids analysis is designed for water samples with a high particulate and oil content as well as for less homogeneous solid samples.

Solids analysis:

  • Automated non-catalytic high-temperature combustion at up to 1800 °C (with additives) in a ceramic combustion tube
  • Optional: Acid digestion module for TIC analysis in solids

Nitrogen analysis (optional)

  • Simultaneous measurement of TOC and TNb
  • ChD detector ( integrated in the device)
  • CLD-300 detector module (can be retrofitted)

multi N/C 2300 N

Nitrogen analyzer for total protein determination using high-temperature catalytic combustion and CLD detection. This device is particularly well suited for small sample volumes and high throughput applications thanks to its high level of automation and short measuring times. The analyzer is compliant with the method of total protein determination listed in the pharmacopoeia.
